PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy,
clearly stated.

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit mskaminsky.com, request a free book, join the mailing list, leave a comment, or send a message.

AT A GLANCE

The short version.

  • We collect only the information needed to run the Site, respond to you, and deliver the books and emails you request.
  • We do not sell or rent the mailing list.
  • You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
  • You can use the contact page to ask about your information or request deletion.

Who we are

Open Pollinated Productions LLC (“OPP,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates mskaminsky.com (the “Site”) for author M.S. Kaminsky. This policy applies to information collected through the Site and its connected forms and services.

Information we collect

Information you provide. We may collect your name, email address, mailing-list choices, and the contents of messages or comments you submit. Please do not send financial details, government identification numbers, health information, or other sensitive personal information through the Site.

Information collected automatically. The Site, its hosting provider, security tools, and connected services may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, timestamps, cookie identifiers, and server-log information.

Purchases. Books are sold through outside retailers. The Site does not directly collect or process your payment-card information. A retailer’s own privacy policy applies when you buy from that retailer.

How we use information

We use information to deliver requested free books and emails; respond to questions and professional inquiries; publish and moderate comments when that feature is available; operate, maintain, and improve the Site; understand general engagement with pages and emails; prevent spam, abuse, and security incidents; keep records; and comply with legal obligations.

Where applicable, processing is based on your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Site and communicating with readers, performance of a service you requested, or compliance with law. You may withdraw consent for future marketing at any time.

Email newsletters and free books

When you request a free book or join the mailing list, we use the information submitted through that form to deliver the selected book and the emails described beside the form. We use MailerLite to manage subscribers, automations, and email delivery. MailerLite processes subscriber information on our behalf and may use cookies, tracking pixels, and tagged links to report delivery, opens, clicks, device information, and approximate location.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops future marketing, although a limited suppression record may be retained so we can honor the request. Choosing more than one free-book offer may place you in more than one interest group within the same mailing system, but it does not require you to remain subscribed.

Contact forms

When you use the contact form, we collect the information entered so we can read and answer your message. The submission is sent to the author inbox and may be retained by the Site, hosting provider, and email provider as needed for delivery, security, recordkeeping, and follow-up. The form uses automated spam prevention, which may process technical information and your CAPTCHA response.

Comments

If comments are enabled and you leave one, WordPress may collect the information shown in the comment form together with your IP address and browser user-agent string to help detect spam. If you opt to save your name, email address, and website for future comments, WordPress stores those details in cookies in your browser. An anonymized value created from your email address may be sent to Gravatar to determine whether you use that service. Approved comments and their associated metadata may be retained indefinitely unless deletion is requested and the law permits deletion.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. The Site may use essential cookies for core operation, security, spam prevention, and preferences. Comment features may use optional convenience cookies. Analytics, embedded media, email forms, and social-media features may also use cookies, pixels, local storage, or similar technologies to measure use or provide their features.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser. Blocking some cookies may prevent parts of the Site from working. Where available, you may also use the cookie controls displayed on the Site. Nonessential technologies are handled according to the consent rules that apply in your location.

Embedded content and external links

Pages may include embedded videos, images, social-media features, or other content from third parties, including YouTube, Google, Pinterest, and book retailers. Embedded content can behave as though you visited the provider directly. The provider may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction, especially if you are signed in to that service. For example, Google’s privacy practices apply to YouTube content and are described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Links to retailers and other outside websites take you away from this Site. We do not control those services, and their own privacy policies apply.

How information is shared

We do not sell or rent the mailing list, and we do not sell personal information for money. Information may be disclosed to service providers that help operate the Site and deliver its features, such as hosting, security, spam prevention, email delivery, analytics, and embedded-media providers. These providers receive information only as needed for their services and process it under their own terms or agreements with us.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or support a merger, sale, or transfer of the business. Some third-party advertising or social technologies may be treated as “sharing” under certain privacy laws even when no money changes hands; rights available in your location are described below.

How long information is kept

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing requested services, maintaining business and legal records, resolving disputes, protecting the Site, and enforcing agreements. Newsletter records are generally kept while you are subscribed, followed by a limited suppression record after you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to respond and maintain appropriate records. Server logs and service-provider records follow the retention practices of the relevant provider.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the Site and the information processed. No website, email system, or method of transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Please use the contact form only for information you are comfortable sending electronically.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising; and appeal a decision about a privacy request. You will not be discriminated against for exercising a legal privacy right.

Use the contact page to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it, and some information may be retained where permitted or required by law. You may also unsubscribe from marketing at any time using the link in an email. If you are in a jurisdiction that provides the right, you may complain to your local data-protection authority.

International transfers

The Site is operated from the United States, and service providers may process information in the United States, the European Union, or other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws different from the laws where you live. Where required, providers and OPP use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, please use the contact page so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Site, its services, or applicable law. The revised version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be highlighted on the Site or communicated by email when appropriate.
